Impairment believed to be a factor in deadly Phoenix collision

PHOENIX — Impairment is believed to be a factor in a Phoenix collision that left a woman dead on Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The Phoenix Police Department identified the deceased woman as 29-year-old Tianna Marie Jones.

According to police, officers responded to the area of 35th and Northern avenues for a two-vehicle collision around 6:53 a.m.

The Phoenix Fire Department also responded and took the male driver of the first vehicle to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

Police said that Jones was the passenger of the first vehicle and was also taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

In addition, the adult man driving the second vehicle was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to police, preliminary information indicates that the first vehicle that Jones was an occupant in was traveling northbound on 35th Avenue when it collided with the second vehicle, which was traveling southbound on 35th Avenue.

The investigation into the fatal Phoenix collision is ongoing.
