16 Handles offering freebies, discounts for grand opening of Scottsdale frozen yogurt shop

A popular frozen yogurt and dessert franchise known for its modern design and viral soft-serve flavors is expanding into Paradise Valley.

16 Handles will open its new shop on Saturday located near Cactus Road and Tatum Boulevard at 4575 E. Cactus Rd., Suite 135.

The location marks a milestone for local franchise owners Evan and Dana Kern. For Evan, opening a frozen yogurt shop fulfills a dream three decades in the making that was sparked during a visit to a shop in his college years.

“Opening this shop with Dana has been an incredible journey, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to bring a brand we love to the Paradise Valley area,” Evan Kern said in a press release. “We can’t wait to welcome guests through our doors and build relationships with the people who make this community so special.”

Both Evan and Dana bring extensive backgrounds in retail operations and customer service to the new business.

The Paradise Valley-Scottsdale store features 16 rotating soft-serve flavors, more than 50 toppings and frozen cakes. Options cater to various diet preferences and allergies, including vegan, gluten-free and keto choices.

The brand has built a national following through unique limited-edition flavor releases, such as french fry, salted butter and butter beer.

Grand opening details, giveaways

To celebrate the opening on Aug. 1, 16 Handles will offer several deals and giveaways:

The first 100 guests will receive free frozen yogurt. From noon to 5 p.m., all frozen yogurt and ice cream will be half price. Saturday evening and Sunday, all purchases will be 25% off.

Visitors can also participate in merchandise giveaways for T-shirts and hats, as well as enter a raffle for four front-row dugout tickets to an upcoming August baseball game between the Chicago Cubs and Arizona Diamondbacks. As part of their community involvement efforts, the Kerns have already partnered with the Miracle League of Arizona, an organization that provides children and adults with disabilities the opportunity to play baseball.
