Peoria approves $264,000 in arts and culture grants for fiscal year 2027

Peoria City Council approved $264,000 in arts and culture grants for the fiscal year 2027, which fund 39 different experiences for residents.

The experiences are split into two categories: Arts programs, projects and performances, and community events.

Some of the events getting the most funding include:

Arts programs, projects and performances

• TheaterWorks: TheaterAlive Youth Outreach & Shrek ($18,750)
• The Monastery AZ: Mural Garden & Special Exhibitions ($15,000)
• Arizona Broadway Theatre (ABT) Performing Arts Association, Inc.: ASL Interpreted Shows / Theatre for Young Audiences ($12,500)
• WHAM: School Age Literary Arts/Teen Art Classes ($11,250)

Community

• 808 Social: Cultural Festivals in Downtown Peoria ($25,000)
• Ballet Arizona: Ballet Under the Stars ($20,000)
• Vibrant Community: Multicultural Music Festival ($15,000)
• Sedona Arts Center: Vision + Sound (Exhibit and Performance) ($12,000)

Peoria’s Arts and Culture Grant Program was launched in 1998, and it helps financially support nonprofit organizations, schools and Peoria-based small businesses to provide visual and performing arts programs for the community.

“Arts and culture are essential to the quality of life in Peoria,” Marylou Stephens, director of arts, culture and library services, said. “These grants help spark creativity, bring people together, support local artists and create moments that become lifelong memories.

“We’re proud to support programming that makes the arts accessible to all.”
