Teenage girl dead after vehicle strikes her in Phoenix

PHOENIX — A teenage girl died after getting hit by a vehicle in Phoenix on Tuesday night, authorities said.

The collision took place in the area of 75th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road before 8:30 p.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The teen girl, whose name and age were not released, was crossing midblock when the vehicle traveling westbound on Lower Buckeye Road struck her, police said.

Officers who responded to the scene found her in critical condition, and although the Phoenix Fire Department brought her to a nearby hospital, she was pronounced dead. The driver remained at the scene.

Police believe impairment was a factor in this collision.

The investigation is ongoing.
