2nd person dead after apparent murder-suicide involving septuagenarian couple in Gilbert

PHOENIX – A second person has died after an apparent-murder suicide involving a septuagenarian couple in Gilbert on Tuesday, authorities said.

The Gilbert Police Department identified the victims Wednesday as 74-year-old Genifrances Williamson and 76-year-old David Williamson.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting at a residence near Higley and Riggs roads just before 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The caller said she heard her father say he was going to shoot her mother during an argument before multiple gunshots rang out, according to police.

Officers forced their way into the home and found two people suffering from serious injuries.

Genifrances Williamson was pronounced dead at the scene. David Williamson was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

Authorities are investigating the case as a murder-suicide.

It was the second deadly shooting in Gilbert this week. Previously, 26-year-old Judah Chesley was arrested in connection with the death of 21-year-old Angelys Spurgeon, who was found dead inside a home near Lindsay and Ray roads early Monday.
