Pedestrian hospitalized after being hit by truck in Buckeye

PHOENIX — A pedestrian was hospitalized after being hit by a truck in Buckeye on Tuesday, authorities said.

According to the Buckeye Police Department, the collision occurred near Eighth Street and Monroe Avenue and officers were on scene around 5:17 p.m.

Police said that the pedestrian, identified as a man, was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk before he was hit by the tuck. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the truck did remain on scene. It is not currently known if speed or impairment played a factor in the crash, according to Buckeye police.

Eight Street was closed between Monroe and Jackson avenues due to the collision, but has since reopened.

No other information was available.
