2 killed, 2 injured in 3-vehicle crash that closed portion of Loop 303 in West Valley

PHOENIX — A portion of Loop 303 has partially reopened in the West Valley after a deadly crash, authorities announced.

Two people were killed in the crash that happened in the northbound lanes of the freeway near Bell Road in Surprise just before 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

A total of three vehicles were involved in the collision. The victims were traveling in the same vehicle, DPS said.

Two other people were hospitalized after the crash, but their injuries were not considered to be life-threatening, the department added.

The crash led to the full closure of the northbound lanes of the freeway at Bell Road. The center and right lanes reopened around 3:15 p.m., according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. The left lane remains closed. ADOT did not say when the lane would reopen.

The southbound lanes were not affected by the crash.
