A pedestrian was killed on early Friday morning after being struck by a car in North Phoenix, according to authorities.

PHOENIX — A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a car early Friday morning in north Phoenix, according to authorities.
The man was identified as Rogelio Peregrino, 46, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

At 1 a.m., Phoenix officers responded to a call about a crash involving a pedestrian near the area of 35th and Northern avenues.
Peregrino was taken to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries, police said.
The driver involved fled the scene before police arrived.
An early investigation found that Peregrino was walking in the northbound lanes of 35th Avenue when he was hit, authorities said.
The investigation is ongoing.
