Suspect dead, officer in stable condition following shooting in Maricopa
A suspect died and a Maricopa Police Department officer was injured in a shooting on Thursday afternoon.
PHOENIX — A suspect died and a Maricopa Police Department officer was injured in a shooting on Thursday afternoon.
The officer suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to a Valley hospital in stable condition, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
The shooting happened at the intersection of Bowlin Road and John Wayne Parkway.
There is no threat to the area, according to the Maricopa Police Department.
The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating.
The 35-40-year-old male who was killed had recently been released from prison, authorities said.
All officers involved in incident have been placed on administrative leave, per standard procedure after a police shooting.
