A new public parking lot recently opened in Summerhaven, creating nearly 100 new parking spaces for visitors at Mount Lemmon.
One of the biggest challenges visitors have faced at the popular southern Arizona mountain is the lack of parking available.
“If you’ve ever visited Mount Lemmon on a busy weekend, you already know the adventure can sometimes begin before the trailhead … with one simple question: Where are we going to park?” Mount Lemmon Lodge said in a video announcing the new lot.
This new lot, which is located on North Sabino Canyon Parkway, about halfway between the heart of Summerhaven and the Marshall Gulch recreation area, has about 75 parking spots in the lot and 21 on-street spots.

This is a get away from traffic and the busy areas. Why wouldn't there be a bus you can book to get you to and from this place of nature? Parking lot expansion is not the solution.
