2 found dead after apparent murder-suicide at Phoenix apartment complex

A man and his estranged wife were found dead after an apparent murder-suicide at a north Phoenix apartment Tuesday, authorities said.

Officers responded to a disturbance call at a complex near North Valley Parkway and Sonoran Desert Drive around 3:30 p.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.

They found Alyssa Ann Sydow-Hoffert, 42, and Henry Arthur Sydow-Hoffert, 59, dead of gunshot wounds inside an apartment. They were an estranged married couple, police said.

“Detectives responded to take over the investigation and process the crime scene. Preliminary indications are that Alyssa died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds, while Henry died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” Sgt. John Buchanan said in a media advisory.

It was the third suspected murder-suicide in the Valley in less than a week, following an incident near 99th Avenue and Camelback Road in Phoenix on Friday and a shooting near Lindsay and Brown roads in Mesa on Sunday.
