Motorcyclist hospitalized in critical condition after collision in Phoenix

A motorcyclist was hospitalized in critical condition after a collision in Phoenix early Saturday morning, authorities said.

PHOENIX — A motorcyclist was hospitalized in critical condition after a collision in Phoenix early Saturday morning, authorities said.

The Phoenix Police Department responded to the crash near 16th and Van Buren streets around 12:35 a.m. and found the motorcyclist suffering from serious injuries.

The Phoenix Fire Department responded and took the man to the hospital, authorities said.

The driver of the car involved in the collision, an adult woman, remained at the scene of the crash and did not show any signs of intoxication.

What led to the motorcyclist-vehicle collision?

Detectives took over the investigation and learned the motorcyclist was heading west on Van Buren Street and approaching 16th Street when the driver failed to yield from a stop sign and pulled onto Van Buren Street and hit the motorcyclist, according to Phoenix police.
