PHOENIX — Two more well-loved restaurants are coming to the West Valley next year: Matt’s Big Breakfast and Portillo’s.
The eateries join the already announced Lou Malnati’s and Barrio Queen as notable additions to north Glendale.
Matt’s Big Breakfast will open near 75th Avenue and Rose Garden Lane, while Portillo’s will be in the Arrowhead Towne Center.
“We know the West Valley has the buying power to support these signature restaurants and look forward to welcoming them and many more,” Brian Friedman, the city’s economic development director, said in a press release.

Matt’s Big Breakfast is expected to open in the summer. The restaurant currently has four Valley locations and two others in the works.
Portillo’s fourth Valley location will take the place of Old Country Buffet outside the mall. Construction on the 8,000-square-foot space is slated to begin early next year.
Katie Roe of Upper West Side PHX, an advocacy group that encourages development in the Northwest Valley, said the region is “thrilled” to have the new eateries.
“We’re experiencing explosive residential growth in this area with thousands of new homes being built, but not enough quality shopping and dining options to meet the demand of the residential growth,” she said in the release.
“We have a thriving community up here and residents are eager to have more high-quality dining options to support.”
