Man found dead after going missing at Salt River

A man was found dead after going missing at Salt River on Sunday morning, authorities said.

PHOENIX — A man was found dead after going missing at Salt River on Sunday morning, authorities said.

Deputies received a call regarding an adult male struggling to cross the river near the “Devil’s Elbow,” a sharp bend in the river just past the Blue Point Recreation Area, around 8:08 a.m., according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).

Police said the male was described as being Hispanic and wearing jeans and a black t-shirt.

MCSO’s Lake Patrol deputies responded and commenced a search which consisted of ground assets, air boat and its aviation unit.

Divers with MCSO searched the area where the male was last seen and recovered his body.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
