Man dead, woman injured following crash in Phoenix
A man is dead and a woman was injured following a crash in Phoenix on Friday afternoon, authorities said.

PHOENIX — A man is dead and a woman was injured following a crash in Phoenix on Friday afternoon, authorities said.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded to a crash in the area near Third Avenue and Indian School Road around 1:40 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers found two vehicles involved in the crash.
The driver of one vehicle, 75-year-old John Stephen Conway, was taken to the hospital, where he later died. The driver of the other vehicle, 18-year-old Selene Alexandra Garcia Telix, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Upon investigation, authorities determined Garcia Telix was driving at a high speed when she failed to stop for a red light and crashed into Conway’s vehicle. She was evaluated for signs of impairment, but no signs were observed.
Garcia Telix was later released from the hospital and booked into jail on charges related to the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
