Loved ones of influencer killed in Glendale road rage shooting share their pain, fond memories

PHOENIX – The loved ones of a social media influencer killed in a road rage shooting in Glendale are sharing stories of their pain and fond memories.

“It hurts to lose your other half,” Daniel Salgado, Yarely Hermosillo’s fiancé, said during a press conference Wednesday. “But when it happens in front of you and you can’t do nothing, it’s a different type of hurt.”

Hermosillo, 27, was riding in an SUV with Salgado, her mother and her young son Friday night when she was struck by a bullet fired during a dispute between the drivers of two other vehicles.

Salgado rushed Hermosillo to a hospital in Phoenix, but she did not survive her injuries.

“I will never forget my mom’s screams when I arrived at the hospital full of pain,” Hermosillo’s sister Cryshan Lopez said. “Yarely was a beautiful soul, a devoted wife, a loving daughter and, above all, an incredible mother to her 3-year-old son.”

Slain influencer had thousands of social media followers

Hermosillo operated popular social media lifestyle accounts, with over 100,000 followers each on Instagram and TikTok. Her videos have garnered millions of views.

“Yarely’s life was just beginning,” Salgado said. “We just moved into a new apartment. Her social media career was beginning to take off, and that was taken from her.”

Hermosillo’s loved ones fondly recalled her kindness and love for cooking.

“I feel for my son when he lays to sleep at night and he can’t cuddle with her,” Salgado said.

Yarely Hermosillo’s thank police who arrested suspect

The people who spoke at Wednesday’s press conference, often through tears, gave thanks to the Glendale Police Department.

“We want to extend our deepest gratitude to the detectives, officers and everyone working tirelessly on this case,” Cryshan Lopez said. “While nothing will ever bring my sister back, we will take some comfort in knowing the man responsible for taking her from us is now behind bars.”

Investigators used surveillance video, phone location data and other evidence to identify 33-year-old Jesus Preciado Dousten as the suspected shooter.

Police took Dousten into custody less than 24 hours after the road rage incident at 51st Avenue and Camelback Road. He was booked into jail on suspicion of second-degree murder, aggravated assault, endangerment and prohibited weapons possession.

“The devastating impact of the senseless and negligent act has shattered our family,” Hermosillo’s sister Ayla Lopez said. “We will not stop seeking justice on her behalf.”
