Man left dead in hospital after hit-and-run in Phoenix
A man died after a hit-and-run on Thursday night that took place shortly before midnight, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

PHOENIX — A man died after a hit-and-run on Thursday night in Phoenix, authorities said.
Officers responded to reports of a vehicular collision in the area of 24th Street and McDowell Road shortly before midnight, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
Officers found a man with life-threatening injuries.
He was brought to a hospital, where he died, police said.
Although the incident was a hit-and-run, the driver returned to the scene around an hour later and was detained by officers.
Detectives said the victim was struck by the vehicle after crossing the roadway against the light.
Police do not believe impairment was a factor in this collision.
No further details were made available as this is an ongoing investigation.
