Gov. Ducey invited to watch Trump’s acceptance speech at White House
Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey and his wife will travel to Washington D.C. Thursday to watch President Donald Trump's acceptance speech.
PHOENIX — Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey will travel to Washington, D.C., to watch President Donald Trump’s Republican National Convention acceptance speech at the White House Thursday.
Ducey and his wife, Angela, will travel to D.C. Thursday and return on Friday, Ducey spokesman Patrick Ptak said in an email.
The governor visited the White House at the start of the month where the president praised Ducey for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic in Arizona.
Trump visited Yuma last week where Ducey, U.S. Sen. Martha McSally and other Arizona politicians were present at the campaign event.
Thursday marks the final day of the Republican National Convention. The week has been filled with speakers in support of Trump’s re-election including Vice President Mike Pence.
Arizona’s Carl and Marsha Mueller are expected to speak on the final night. The Muellers’ daughter, Kayla Mueller, was on a humanitarian mission in Turkey in 2013 when she was kidnapped by ISIS after crossing the Syrian border to visit a hospital. She was held captive, tortured and later killed in 2015 by the terrorists.
