A 13-year-old boy is dead after he was hit by a car while riding an e-bike in the West Valley on Monday night, authorities said.
Deputies were called to the area of Perryville and Bethany Home roads just before 8 p.m. for the vehicle-pedestrian collision, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
The teen was taken with life-threatening injuries to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
The boy’s identity was not released and authorities provided no information on the driver.
Detectives are investigating the fatal West Valley collision.

Everywhere I go,... it's one thing when other vehicle operators drive with no lights on after dusk or "stealth mode", it's another thing when a cyclist does it with 3000 lb vehicles all around, and can't stop on a nickel.
All these youths want is an easy, enjoyable way to get around, give it to them by expanding the public transportation system. Make public transit more enjoyable and make cars inconvenient. How? Buses should pull into plazas like every other vehicle for boarding and unloading, go down every street just like a school bus, frequencies should be 15 minutes or less, and the main hub should be like an airport with services and amenities.
Class 3 is maxed out at 28mph and can't have a throttle. An unassisted bicycle can do that rolling down a steep hill.
These minibikes that the uneducated are complaining about are being marketed under false pretenses and that is what is supposed to be stopped by the FTC, which seems to be on vacation now.
