2 seriously injured in shooting at Mesa’s Eastmark community

Two people were seriously injured Tuesday morning in a shooting at Mesa’s Eastmark community, authorities said.

Officers responded to a shooting call in a neighborhood near Warner Road and Eastmark Parkway about 4:30 a.m., according to the Mesa Police Department.

They found two people suffering from gunshot injuries that are considered serious but not life-threatening. Both victims were hospitalized, and one has been released, police said Wednesday.

Nsengiyumva Daniel, 20, was detained Tuesday as part of the initial investigation and later booked into jail for offenses that are not directly related to the shooting.

Daniel’s bond was set at $250,000 after he was processed on drug and weapons charges.

Police said the victims are not fully cooperating with investigators as they work to identify and locate the shooting suspect.
