East Valley massage therapist sentenced to 5 years in prison for sexual abuse

PHOENIX — An East Valley massage therapist was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to sexual abuse, authorities announced Thursday.

Raul Ochoa, 47, assaulted multiple women at a pair of day spas in Gilbert and Queen Creek between May 2022 and February 2023, according to a press release from the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

Ochoa touched the women inappropriately and caused lasting damage to the victims, according to the release.

He pleaded guilty on one count of attempt to commit sexual assault, two counts of sexual abuse and one count of assault with sexual motivation.

“This defendant took advantage of these women who had placed their trust in him,” Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell said in the release. “This case highlights the bravery of the survivors who came forward to ensure that justice was served and that this perpetrator could no longer harm others.”
