Convicted sexual predator sentenced to 28 years in Arizona prison

PHOENIX — A Chandler man who tried to trade child sexual abuse materials in exchange for access to children to abuse was recently sentenced to 28 years in prison, authorities said.

Christopher Delaney, 21, made plans with an undercover detective posing as the parent of a 7-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl, according to a Friday announcement from the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

“This case is a reminder of the dangers our children face, and the lengths some will go to exploit them,” Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell said in the announcement.

The two connected on a dating app called Sniffies. During their conversation, Delaney said he wanted to drug the children, tie them up and sexually abuse them, prosecutors said.

The two made a plan to meet at Delaney’s house because he was on probation and wearing an ankle monitor.

On the day of their arranged meeting, Delaney approached the detective with a flash drive containing over 100 files of child sexual abuse material. He also had a rape kit that included:

• Zip ties.
• Whiskey.
• Weed pens.
• Melatonin gummies.
• Body oil.
• Lotion.

He pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of a minor.

“Thanks to the Chandler Police Department and the prosecution team, this defendant was stopped before he could carry out his plans on a real child,” Mitchell said.
