Honeywell Aerospace will spend $500 million on a new factory in Tempe, eventually adding about 600 jobs.
The plant, located near Priest Drive and Warner Road, is set to open in late 2028, the company announced Wednesday.
The factory will make parts for commercial and military aircraft. It will also take on precision machining work the company now buys from suppliers who can’t keep up with demand.
“Demand for technology from Honeywell Aerospace continues to accelerate across both commercial and defense markets,” CEO Jim Currier said in a news release.
The aerospace company split from Honeywell earlier this year. Construction is expected to support more than 1,000 jobs.
Honeywell Aerospace is based in Phoenix.
