PHOENIX — A 13-year-old boy is in critical condition after being hit by a pick-up truck in a hit-and-run on Thursday evening in Glendale, authorities said.
He was leading a group of other minors on their bicycles in the area of Northern and 47th avenues when the truck collided with him around 7:30 p.m., police said.
“The juvenile victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital,” Glendale PD spokesperson Morino Mendez said in a Friday press release.
“The teen victim has been fighting for his life and as of this morning is still alive but in grave and critical condition,” Mendez added.
Northern Avenue was closed in both directions as authorities processed the scene.
Police have not identified the driver or the vehicle that struck the victim.
The investigation is ongoing.
