Car transporting bees hits pedestrian, crashes into pole in Mesa

PHOENIX — A car transporting bees hit a pedestrian and then crashed into a pole on Saturday morning in the East Valley, authorities said.

According to the Mesa Police Department, officers were dispatched to an accident at the intersection of Mesa Drive and McKellips Road just after 9 a.m.

When police arrived on scene, they reportedly discovered that a vehicle had collided with a pedestrian and a pole.

Police said the driver was having a medical issue that was related to bee stings.

The driver and pedestrian were transported a nearby hospital. Their condition is not currently known.

According to police, northbound Mesa Drive and westbound McKellips Road will be closed as officers investigate the crash.

In July, a man died after being attacked by bees while working at a north Scottsdale senior living facility.
