Cafe Rio equipped with drive-thru to open in West Valley suburb

PHOENIX — A Utah-based Mexican food chain is opening a West Valley location that will feature a drive-thru.

Cafe Rio will open at the Palm Valley Pavilions shopping center in Goodyear on Jan. 8, the city said Monday in a press release.

The new restaurant, located on the southeast corner of McDowell and Litchfield roads, will employ about 45 people.

“Amid all the stores around there, we will give shoppers another option for a casual lunch,” Brittany Squiers, a spokeswoman for the chain, said in the release. “The drive-thru could be a differentiator, making the dining experience faster so they can get on to their next destination.”

The restaurant, located at the old home of a Carl’s Jr., will be the chain’s 11th Valley location and second in the West Valley.

There are more than 125 Cafe Rio locations nationwide.
