Person hospitalized after jumping from 2nd story of burning house in Phoenix

PHOENIX – One person was hospitalized after jumping from the second story of a burning house in Phoenix on Friday morning, authorities said.

Two other occupants were rescued from the first floor of the home near 24th Street and Baseline Road, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

Crews responded to the burning house around 6:30 a.m. and found heavy smoke coming from the second floor. Three people were trapped inside.

“Firefighters were able to safely rescue two people on the first floor. A third person had to jump from a second story window due to the heat,” Capt. DJ Lee said in a media advisory.

What happened after person jumped from burning house?

The patient was taken to a hospital and is listed in stable condition with smoke inhalation and trauma from the jump.

The city’s Community Assistance Program responded to the scene to provide support for the people displaced by the house fire.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the blaze.
