Buckeye police identify 13-year-old student who sent school into lockdown

PHOENIX — Buckeye police have identified a 13-year-old student who sent Bales Elementary School into lockdown on Monday, authorities said.

The male student called the school located near Maricopa and Miller roads and said there were guns on campus. The Buckeye school, which goes up to eighth grade, subsequently went into lockdown.

Officers were called just before noon and assessed the area for threats but did not find anything suspicious. The lockdown was later ended.

Police contacted the student who made the call and said they will submit charges of interfering with or disruption of an educational institution.
