Mesa police investigating homicide after man found dead in alley

PHOENIX — Homicide detectives were called in after a man was found dead in a Mesa alley on Monday morning, authorities said.
Officers received a call reporting the body near Broadway Road and Mesa Drive around 6:23 a.m., according to the Mesa Police Department.
The victim, who appeared to have stab wounds, was identified as 47-year-old Jerry Deitch.
No other details were made available. The investigation is ongoing.
