Arizona health officials discourage dine-in service to fight COVID-19

PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Health Services “strongly” recommended Tuesday that restaurants in COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak areas discourage dine-in service.

That change was among several dining-related guidelines to fight the spread of COVID-19 posted by AZDHS on social media.

The department cited Maricopa, Pima and Pinal counties, which had 17 of the 18 coronavirus cases reported in the state through Monday, as the current target areas for the recommendations.

AZDHS is now encouraging dining establishments to focus on curbside pick-up and drive-thru service.

Restaurants that continue offering dine-in options are being encouraged to adopt social distancing guidelines that provide space for customers to remain at least 6 feet apart.

Employees should also be tested for symptoms before starting work and wash their hands between each customer interaction.
