2 injured after apartment fire in Phoenix

Two people were injured after a fire broke out in a Phoenix apartment on Saturday night, authorities said.

PHOENIX — Two people were injured after a fire broke out in a Phoenix apartment on Saturday night, authorities said.

Fire crews responded to a call near 17th Avenue and Camelback Road at around 10:30 p.m., according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a fire on the second story of the apartment.

Firefighters deployed hose lines to put out the fire and cleared people from the building.

A man was taken to a hospital in critical condition, according to authorities. A woman was also taken to a hospital in stable condition. No firefighters were injured.

The cause of the fire is not known and is under investigation.
