More than a dozen animals presumed dead in Mesa mobile home fire

PHOENIX — More than a dozen animals are presumed to be dead after a Mesa mobile home caught fire Monday morning, according to fire officials.

The homeowner said there were five dogs and 12 cats missing and were last seen inside the home, according to a Rural Metro Fire Central Arizona Facebook post.

How did the Mesa home with animals catch fire?

At approximately 5:30 a.m., officials were called to a fire at a mobile home park near Main Street and Hawes Road, according to ABC15.

Those in neighboring areas reported minor damage and explosions as firefighters battled the blaze. However, the first responders eventually contained the majority of the fire.

The homeowner was not inside the home and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Mesa wasn’t the only city struggling with blazes this morning.
