Crews called to early-morning fires at 3 businesses across metro Phoenix

PHOENIX – Crews jumped into action across Phoenix early Monday after fires broke out at the same time at three businesses, authorities said.

There was nothing to indicate the fires at a tire shop, a hotel and a Chinese restaurant were related, according to preliminary reports from the Phoenix Fire Department.

The three calls all came in around 3 a.m. Two of the incidents were located along the Interstate 17 corridor.

No injuries were reported from any of the scenes.

“All these crews did an absolute fabulous job preventing these fires from extending to the businesses,” Capt. Todd Keller told KTAR News 92.3 FM.

Where were Phoenix Fire crews dispatched at 3 a.m.?

One of the fires occurred at the Purcell Tire shop near I-17 and McDowell Road. Firefighters arrived to find multiple tires burning in an exterior lot. They prevented the flames from extending to surrounding structures and had the fire under control within 30 minutes.

Further north, a dryer caught fire at the Sonesta Simply Suites off I-17 between Peoria Avenue and Cactus Road. There was light smoke coming from the three-story hotel when firefighters arrived, but the fire was already out.

The other call was for the west side of town. Firefighters arrived to find an exterior fire that extended to the rear of Lin’s Grand Buffet at 75th Avenue and McDowell Road. Crews were able to limit the damage to minor charring in the attic.
