$220,000 renovation completed at 50-year-old Phoenix park

PHOENIX – City officials unveiled a completed renovation project at a 50-year-old park in a south Phoenix neighborhood this week.

Lenang Park, which opened near 24th Street and Broadway Road in 1969, was updated with a new basketball court, playground, turf area, benches and lighting.

The playground features climbing areas, a slide and swings.

City Councilman Carlos Garcia joined Parks and Recreation Department staff and area residents at the park Wednesday for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The $220,000 renovation cost was paid for by the voter-approved Phoenix Parks and Preserve Initiative.
