Mother and boyfriend arrested for the death of 2-year-old boy

A Yuma mother and her boyfriend were arrested on Friday in connection to the death of her 2-year-old boy, authorities said.

PHOENIX — A mother and her boyfriend have been arrested in connection to the death of her 2-year-old son, authorities said.

Angelina Vasquez, 20, and Miguel Garcia, 23, were arrested on Friday after police found the remains of the young boy, according to the Yuma Police Department.

Details on the death of 2-year-old boy

Officers responded to a report of a suspicious incident at the 8500 block of E. 25th Street around 1:47 p.m. on Friday.

When police arrived they discovered human remains that appeared to be of the 2-year-old boy.

The Yuma Police Department’s Investigation Unit arrived on scene and took over the investigation.

The boy’s mother and her boyfriend were arrested in connection to the boy’s death.

They were both booked on charges of murder in the first degree-premeditated and the abandonment/concealment of dead body parts.

This is still an ongoing investigation.
