2 men accused of kidnapping, killing man who was found dead near south Phoenix canal

Two men were recently arrested in connection with the death of a man near a canal in south Phoenix on June 25.

Two men were recently arrested in connection with the death of a man near a canal in south Phoenix last month.

The Phoenix Police Department identified the men taken into custody as 41-year-old Hector Corrales and 45-year-old Troy Amir Lentor Rene Wright.

Wright is facing charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping. Meanwhile, Corrales is facing charges of first-degree murder during a crime and kidnapping.

On June 25, officers responded to the area of 24th Street and Baseline Road around 8:35 p.m. for an unknown trouble call near the Highline Canal.

When police arrived at the scene, they found 33-year-old Aaron Goodyke unresponsive. He was later pronounced dead by the Phoenix Fire Department.

Homicide detectives determined that preliminary information indicated the Goodyke’s death was suspicious in nature. However, police did not release any information on what specifically led to him dying.
