1 dead, 1 critically hurt after crash involving motorcycle in Gilbert

One person died and another was hospitalized after a motorcycle crash in Gilbert on Tuesday evening, authorities said.
An SUV and a motorcycle with two adult riders collided in the intersection of Recker and Queen Creek roads just before 7:30 p.m., according to the Gilbert Police Department.
One of the riders was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Neither of them were identified by police.
Authorities said the intersection will be closed while they investigate the crash.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
