A person is dead after a six-car crash at a Scottsdale intersection that left four others hospitalized Tuesday, authorities said.

Officers and fire crews were called to Scottsdale Road and Shea Boulevard around 4:45 p.m. for the crash, according to the Scottsdale Police Department.

The preliminary investigation suggested a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed hit the back of a line of five cars stopped at a red light causing a chain-reaction collision.
