Honeywell Aerospace, one of the Valley’s largest employers, started trading Monday on the Nasdaq stock exchange under the ticker “HONA”. The new company is a spin-off from parent company Honeywell Technologies.
The Phoenix-headquartered company employs more than 36,000 people worldwide and supplies flight systems, avionics, engines and navigation technology to airlines, defense contractors and space programs.
Under the split, Honeywell Technologies shareholders received one share of Honeywell Aerospace stock for every two shares of the parent company they held.
“Today marks the start of a new era for Honeywell Aerospace,” CEO Jim Currier said in a statement. “We are fully dedicated to our mission to protect and advance the promise of flight to create a safer, more connected world.”
The company traces its origins to 1914, when it developed the first autopilot. It now serves more than 10,000 customers globally. Honeywell Technologies continues trading under the ticker “HON.”
