PHOENIX — Greenwood Brewing, a woman-owned craft brewery based in Phoenix, will open a taproom in downtown Chandler later this year. The move marks a return home for brewery founder Megan Greenwood, who began her brewing journey in her Chandler garage.

The brewery will occupy space at The AJ, a mixed-use development at 55 N. Arizona Place owned by Asana Partners. The location will feature three garage doors that open to the outdoors and picnic baskets designed for nearby parks.

“Bringing our next chapter to Chandler, the city where my brewing journey began, feels incredibly meaningful,” Greenwood said in a statement.

Greenwood moved to the Phoenix area in 2012 and lived in Chandler about a mile from the new location. A homebrew kit she received as a birthday gift sparked her interest in brewing, and within a year she had built a functioning microbrewery in her garage.

She opened Greenwood Brewing in downtown Phoenix in 2020. The brewery has since grown into one of Arizona’s 20 largest and won more than 10 medals at the Arizona Craft Brewers Awards. It was named 2025 Arizona Travel Award Statewide Brewery of the Year.

Greenwood Brewing is among 3% of U.S. brewing companies that are solely woman-owned, according to the company.

“This is a great example of how strategic city investment, thoughtful park renovation and intentional placemaking support businesses that have built strong reputations and loyal customer bases,” Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke said in the news release.

An opening date has not been announced.
