A wrong-way driver was arrested Saturday morning after allegedly hitting a Scottsdale police officer who was on a bicycle.
According to the Scottsdale Police Department, officers saw a vehicle driving “erratically” in the wrong direction around 3:02 a.m. near Scottsdale and Camelback roads.
When officers tried to stop the driver, he accelerated and hit an officer on a police bicycle before fleeing the area.
The officer was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
Police said the officers later found the vehicle near Scottsdale Road and Gold Dust Avenue. The driver was arrested without further incident and booked into jail on multiple charges, including aggravated assault on a police officer.
