Southbound I-17 closed in Phoenix due to crash

Southbound Interstate 17 closed in Phoenix on Wednesday night due to a crash, authorities said.

The collision closed the freeway near Indian School Road, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. It noted that the on-ramp at Camelback Road was also shut.

Motorists were advised to seek alternative routes and expect delays.

The northbound side of the highway was not affected by the crash.

It is not known when southbound I-17 will reopen.
