ADOT starts improvements at I-10/Jackrabbit Trail interchange in West Valley

Crews began construction Saturday on an improvement project at the Interstate 10 interchange at Jackrabbit Trail in the West Valley.

The two-year project is meant to improve traffic flow and add capacity by providing new freeway bridges, widening on- and off-ramps at Jackrabbit Trail and making cross street improvements in the area.

The eastbound off-ramp and westbound on-ramp on I-10 at Jackrabbit Trail will be closed until 3 p.m. Saturday. Additionally, southbound Jackrabbit Trail will be shut between McDowell Road and Roosevelt Street.

Motorists can use the I-10 interchanges at Verrado Way and Perryville Road as alternative routes.

The project will require future closures and lane restrictions along I-10, Jackrabbit Trail and on- and off-ramps. This is to allow crews to remove and reconstruct the existing bridges over Jackrabbit Trail as well as widen the street to three lanes in each direction from south of the intersection to McDowell Road.

The on- and off-ramps will also be widened to have additional turn lanes and traffic signals will be added.
