Gov. Katie Hobbs orders flags lowered to half-staff to honor Dolly Parton

Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs ordered that flags on all state buildings be lowered to half-staff starting Tuesday in honor of Dolly Parton’s death.

Parton died in Nashville at the age of 80 years old after a brief battle with cancer. She was a country music icon and beloved personality known for her soaring vibrato vocals, poignant songwriting, sparkling costumes and massive blonde wigs.

The order is in accordance with a presidential proclamation and directs flags to be lowered until sunset on Sept. 1.

The governor encouraged individuals, businesses and other organizations to join the tribute.
