An Arizona teacher, who was arrested earlier this year on child sexual abuse charges, is facing additional charges after investigators discovered evidence he secretly recorded minors.

In June, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office arrested Chester Cox, 31, on three counts of sexual conduct with a minor and two counts of molestation of a child following allegations of child sexual abuse several years ago.

While investigating, detectives searched Cox’s electronic devices and found hidden video-recording devices in his classroom and a connected restroom at Dr. Daniel Bright Elementary School in Cottonwood.

Authorities identified multiple minor children who were secretly recorded in the classroom and restroom. However, they stated that it doesn’t appear the recordings were distributed.

The children’s families were notified and provided with resources. Cox was booked on additional charges of surreptitious videotaping and sexual exploitation of a minor.

The reported molestation took place when the victim, who is now 18, was 11 to 12 years old. The investigation began after his mother told a church deputy about the allegations.

Days later, detectives identified Cox as their suspect.

The former teacher worked at the elementary school for seven years and has lived in Cottonwood for around nine years after moving from Missouri, according to the sheriff’s office.

Cox also served as a youth coach in the community. However, investigators said Cox did not meet the victim in this case through his school employment.
