2 teens arrested after ‘Senior Assassins’ game causes disturbance at Queen Creek drive-thru

Two teens were arrested over the weekend while participating in a “Senior Assassins” game after they caused a disturbance at a drive-thru in Queen Creek, authorities said.

On Saturday, officers were called to the area of Ellsworth Loop and Rittenhouse roads around 9:55 p.m. for reports of people at a drive-thru restaurant with a gun, according to the Queen Creek Police Department.

When police arrived at the scene, they determined that two 17-year-olds were participating in “Senior Assassins,” which is a student-organized game.

The teens had water guns and one was wearing what authorities described as a cloth-type mask.

Both were arrested before being booked into Maricopa County Juvenile Detention for disorderly conduct.

While the department does not endorse or encourage participation on the game, it acknowledges that some students may choose to take part anyway.

It is for that reason that it provided some safety guidance for students and parents. They included:

• Don’t use water guns that look like real firearms.
• Don’t trespass or enter business areas, which includes parking lots.
• Don’t run into streets or traffic or play the game around moving vehicles.
• Don’t aim at or spray people who are not participating in the game.
• Don’t use or display the water guns in a threatening or disorderly manner.

Officials also encouraged parents and guardians to talk to their teens about the possible risks of playing the game and remind them to not get into unsafe situations or act criminally.
