Weekend Valley construction closes lanes on Loop 101, Loop 202 and SR 51

Widening and paving projects will close lanes Friday night through Monday morning. ADOT has posted detours.

Construction projects will shut down lanes on Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway, Loop 202 Santan Freeway and State Route 51 this weekend, the Arizona Department of Transportation said.

The closures run from Friday night through 5 a.m. Monday.

Westbound Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway closing for widening work

Westbound Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway shuts down between Interstate 17 and 51st Avenue in the northwest Valley starting at 10 p.m. Friday. Crews will be widening the roadway.

North- and southbound I-17 ramps to westbound Loop 101 will close, along with on-ramps at Seventh Street and Seventh Avenue. ADOT suggests westbound Union Hills Drive or Bell Road to travel around the closure.

Further south on Loop 101, all north- and southbound ramps to Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway in Tempe close starting at 8 p.m. Friday for a pavement improvement project.

The southbound Loop 101 on-ramp at McKellips Road will also close.

ADOT suggests exiting Loop 101 ahead of the ramp closures and using McKellips and Alma School roads to connect with Loop 202.

Santan Freeway will close between Williams Field and Gilbert roads

Westbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway shuts down between Williams Field and Gilbert roads in the Southeast Valley starting at 10 p.m. Friday for a widening project.

The on-ramp at Higley Road will also close.

ADOT suggests using southbound Higley Road to westbound Germann Road or westbound Williams Field Road as detours.

Westbound US 60 Superstition Freeway is an alternative freeway route.

Northbound SR 51 narrowing to two lanes

Northbound SR 51 continues its construction project to resurface the roadway.

The construction shrinks the route to two lanes between Northern Avenue and Shea Boulevard starting at 9 p.m. Friday. Construction also impacts northbound lanes near Camelback Road.

The on-ramp at Shea Boulevard will close.

Northbound I-17 is available as an alternative route.
