An Arizona man admitted to selling illegal substances that mimic the effects of anabolic steroids, officials announced.

An Arizona man admitted to selling illegal substances that mimic the effects of anabolic steroids, officials announced.

The Justice Department identified the man as Jeffrey McIndoo of Phoenix.

McIndoo and his company JeffMac Investments LLC, which was doing business as SARMS Pharm LLC, pleaded guilty to information in connection with the illicit sale of selective androgen receptor modulators or SARMs. The chemical substances are not approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

SARMS Pharm also pleaded guilty to conspiracy to smuggle SARMs into the U.S. from China.

Between 2017 and 2022, SARMS Pharm earned a total 3.5 million from selling the illegal substances, prosecutors said.

The company agreed to forfeit $1.8 million, which is the sum of the proceeds the company retained, as part of the plea agreement.

In addition, as part of the agreement, JeffMac Investments LLC will close its business.

Meanwhile, McIndoo faces a up to a year in a prison.

“Smuggled SARMs have no place in the national marketplace, and we will endeavor to keep these substances out of the reach of consumers,” Assistant Attorney General Brett A. Shumate of the Justice Department’s Civil Division said in the announcement.
