Weekend road work continues on SR 51

Southbound SR 51 will be closed between Indian School Road and Interstate 10 in Phoenix from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a pavement improvement project.

Southbound on-ramps at Glendale Avenue, Bethany Home Road and Highland Avenue also will be closed.

Drivers should expect delays as they exit southbound SR 51 at Indian School Road.

ADOT recommended southbound Interstate 17 as an alternate freeway route for drivers heading to downtown Phoenix and Sky Harbor Airport.

Loop 101 has a series of closures and restrictions scheduled in Glendale

The section of Loop 101 known as the Agua Fria Freeway will have northbound lane closures between Interstate 10 and Indian School Road in Glendale from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for the Loop 101/I-10 interchange improvement project.

Drivers can consider northbound 91st Avenue or 99th Avenue to reach Loop 101 via Indian School Road or other routes farther north. For westbound I-10 travelers heading to the northwest Valley, ADOT said northbound Interstate 17 to westbound Loop 101 is another option.

Meanwhile, the Pima Freeway section of Loop 101 will be narrowed to two lanes southbound between Princess Drive and Shea Boulevard in Scottsdale from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

ADOT said on- and off-ramps in both directions in that area will be closed at times and advised drivers to budget extra travel time. Southbound I-17 can be used as an alternate route.

Loop 303 restrictions planned in north Phoenix area

A widening and interchange project closes eastbound Loop 303 overnight between 43rd Avenue and Interstate 17 from 9 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday and again from 9 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday.

The same project closes eastbound Loop 303 overnight between 43rd Avenue and I-17 over the next week. The closures run from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Monday evening and continuing through Saturday morning, June 6.

Drivers can detour by taking northbound 43rd Avenue to eastbound Dove Valley Road to reach I-17.

On the I-17 itself, ADOT also announced it will close two of the five northbound lanes between Dixileta Drive and Loop 303 from 4:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. The northbound I-17 off-ramp at Loop 303 and Sonoran Desert Drive will remain open.

Work also scheduled on SR 347 in south Maricopa County

Meanwhile, south of the Ahwatukee area, the intersection of SR 347 and Riggs Road will be closed off and on for up to 15 minutes at a time from 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Crews are working on utility lines and traffic signals ahead of the SR 347 Improvement Project, which is set to begin this summer.
