3-year, $192M Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway interchange project kicks off this weekend

The Arizona Department of Transportation will begin a $192 million project this weekend to expand the freeway interchange connecting Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway and Interstate 10 in the West Valley.

The roughly three-year project will add an elevated bridge for new high-occupancy vehicle lane connections between the two freeways, along with new ramps and traffic flow improvements on both Loop 101 and I-10.

Construction kicks off with a weekend closure of southbound Loop 101 between Indian School Road and I-10 from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. On-ramps at Cardinals Way and Camelback Road will also be closed.

Drivers can still reach I-10 by exiting before the closure and using 91st or 99th avenues.
